1. EA Sports FC 26
With football being an integral element of our culture, and one of those that I love the most, I just had to mention this game. This game is all set to be a delight, particularly for the Mexican people, because it is going to once again feature Liga BBVA MX, the top professional division for Mexican football.
For those of you who don’t know, Liga BBVA MX holds a lot of significance for Hispanic football fans. This highly popular competitive football division has given fans all over the globe some of the most legendary football moments you can imagine. The highly competitive rivalries, thrilling displays of football skills, and the roars of passionate fans are all moments that add to the rich history of this league.
The last time we saw Liga BBVA MX was in FIFA 22. For the past few years, the league had been partnering with Konami’s eFootball, but now they’re back with EA, as confirmed on the league’s official website. To top that, the game will also feature another iconic addition that is essential to football history, the Estadio Azteca, one of the most popular stadiums. The addition of the league and the stadium will ensure the game delivers an authentic experience of the vibrant Mexican football culture.

2. Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6 / GTA VI)
I will say it’s about time because it’s been 12 years since we last saw a GTA release. With this game, Rockstar brings the focus back to Vice City (Rockstar’s version of Miami), but this time, with a new approach, focusing on a partners-in-crime kind of couple! With one-half of this couple being a new Hispanic female main character named Lucia, the game has added a touch of Hispanic culture.
Lucia is the first female main character in a GTA game, and her introduction marks the beginning of a new and more inclusive era in GTA games. The game will feature Lucia partnering with the game’s male protagonist, Jason, to carry out a range of adrenaline-fueled adventures. The trailer released by Rockstar briefly explores the origins of both characters before showing glimpses of adventures you can expect.
I have been a lifelong fan of GTA, and to see Hispanic representation in one of my favorite games is something I’m glad I will soon get to witness. Let’s hope that, like this game, Rockstar also deviates from its history of frequent delays and releases this one on time. So far, the company has released only one trailer, that too a year ago, which may be a warning sign to prepare for a delay. But then again, WWE superstar John Cena posted a photo of the game on his Instagram, so it could also be closer than we think. Let’s try to stay on the positive side.

3. Despelote
Despelote is a slice-of-life, first-person video game that brings a unique, natural, and social approach to football games. One of the game’s developers, Julián Cordero, used the memories, experiences, and perspectives of his 8-year-old self to create this autobiographical-style game.
What I gathered from the teaser, the game is set in Quito, Ecuador, in 2002, when the country qualified for the FIFA World Cup. It will allow players to explore the city with a soccer ball and play matches with random people, all through the eyes of an 8-year-old character, Julian. With highly accurate depictions of parks and streets, natural conversations, and physics-based gameplay, the game will offer players a highly immersive and realistic experience.
It is always nice to see games showing a realistic and natural display of Hispanic countries and people. Despelote is a solid example. There have been a lot of efforts to make this game as realistically representative of the people and city of Quito as possible, with developers clicking photos and recording audio throughout multiple locations in Ecuador. I am looking forward to reliving and reconnecting with how my love for the sport developed through this game.
